I spent many years writing my first book, Mystery on Macomber Hill. It wasn’t until I finally retired that I was able to finish it and get it self published. It can be found on Amazon as a hard copy or downloaded using Kindle. I have reduced the price of the Kindle download to $0.99. It is a book designed for all age groups even though its two main characters belong to the younger generation. The book is set on a location in Maine where I actually lived when I was nine years old. The story is fictional but many of the incidents that are in the book actually happened to me and my brothers. I wanted the book not only to tell a story, but to show the reader what farm life was like for two young boys and their parents during the 1950’s.
I retired in 2014 at the age of 66, exactly. I retired on my birthday, April 22nd. It is very significant for me because I celebrate three occasions on that day. The first is my birthday, the second is my retirement day, and the third is Earth Day. (Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 193 countries each year).
If anyone should read my book, I would appreciate a review of the book on Amazon, good or bad. Every review helps an author understand the good and bad aspects of their writings.
I anticipate using this blog to relate different stories and time periods of my life leading up to my current age. Meanwhile, I am writing my second book which I hope will be completed this year. Please contact me with any questions or comments you may have concerning the book.
